Mission

The mission of the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation is to eliminate preventable infant death and illness in North Carolina

The purpose of our Web site is to:

  • Inform the public about issues that improve women’s health, birth outcomes and the health and safety of young children
  • Increase awareness among health and human service professionals, community leaders and policymakers of key maternal and child health issues and resources in order to better assist the families they serve.

This Web site is designed to provide information and resources that promote the health of children, families and communities. Much of the information is taken from publications offered by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation. The information provided by this Web site is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between an individual and their physicians and should not be taken as medical advice.

Privacy Policy

The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation believes personal privacy must be respected and preserved. We do not collect personal information such as names, addresses, email addresses, etc. unless you voluntarily give them to us when they complete a form or survey, email us, make a donation or place a bulk order for health education materials.

Personally identifiable information is used solely for the purposes of:

  • Processing orders and accounting for the distribution of publicly-funded health education materials
  • Collecting comments and recommendations about the website
  • Responding to requests
    Note: At times, we may not be able to answer specific eligibility and technical assistance questions. In those cases, we forward questions to individuals at the state level who are better able to offer assistance. In those cases, we do pass along the original sender’s identifying information so that the sender can get a direct and confidential answer.
  • Sending gift acknowledgments

The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation keeps a database of agencies and individuals visiting our site. We use the database information for statistical analysis, for customer surveys and to announce new resources.

All personal information will remain confidential and will never be sold or otherwise shared or communicated to any commercial entity.

Funding

Support for this site comes from private foundation grants and gifts. In the past, support for this site also came from the State of North Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services through a contract with the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation.
