About this Site

The mission of the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation is to eliminate preventable infant death and illness in North Carolina

The purpose of our Web site is to:

  1. Inform the public about issues that improve women's health, birth outcomes and the health and safety of young children
  2. Increase awareness among health and human service professionals, community leaders and policymakers of key maternal and child health issues and resources in order to better assist the families they serve.

This Web site is designed to provide information and resources that promote the health of children, families and communities. Much of the information is taken from publications offered by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation. The information provided by this Web site is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between an individual and their physicians and should not be taken as medical advice.

The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation is committed to providing access to our Web pages for individuals with disabilities.

We have made every attempt to ensure compliance with accessibility design guidelines outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. If you have any problems accessing parts of our site, please notify our Website Manager at or by calling 919-828-1819.

Personally identifiable information is used solely for the purposes of:

  • Processing orders and accounting for the distribution of publicly-funded health education materials
  • Collecting comments and recommendations about the web site
  • Responding to requests
Note: At times, we may not be able to answer specific eligibility and technical assistance questions. In those cases, we forward questions to individuals at the state level who are better able to offer assistance. In those cases, we do pass along the original sender's identifying information so that the sender can get a direct and confidential answer.
  • Sending gift acknowledgments

The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation keeps a database of agencies and individuals who bulk order educational materials, as part of our contract with the state of North Carolina. No other person/entity can access this database. Aggregate (non-identifying) information from this database is, at times, reported to the divisions within the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services. We use the database information for statistical analysis, for customer surveys and to announce new resources.

All personal information will remain confidential and will never be sold or otherwise shared or communicated to any commercial entity.
