Announcing Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) / Child Health Insurance Outreach Partnership!
(2/08) - The Division of Public Health / Children and Youth Branch is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Earned Income Tax Credit Program in support of one another's outreach efforts. During this tax season and tax seasons to come, we are reaching out to the families we serve with a simple message to "Take Your Money, You Earned It". The Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal credit for working families earning just under $40,000 in 2007. It can be worth up to $4,716 for a married couple with two children. However, many families don't know about EITC. The linked information below provides introductory information, a scripted message to share with families you serve, and access to a variety of materials through the EITC-Carolinas Web Site.
In return, we have mailed information about our partnership and child health insurance outreach materials to targeted Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Centers who help families earning less than $50,000 annually fill out their tax forms for free with IRS-trained and certified volunteers. See "Memo to VITA Site Managers and Staff" linked below to read the information that was sent to them.
We hope that you will support this effort as we help one another reach families who need this information about EITC and child health insurance!
