New! electronic media promotes the Medical home message and Health Check / NC Health Choice to the Latino population

(4/05) --The Division of Public Health and the NC Healthy Start Foundation have been working with media partners to create Spanish-Language Public Service Announcements for Television and Radio.

Univision (WUVC) is a Spanish-language television station whose viewing area includes Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson Counties in North Carolina.

In partnership with Univision, seven television PSAs have been produced using our own homegrown, free talent! The PSAs highlight the educational messages in the Medical Home Brochure and Bookmarks, and each one refers viewers to our bilingual NC Family Health Resource Line for more information and to learn if their children might qualify for free or low cost health insurance. These PSAs are being aired during February, March and April 2005.

La Ley (WYMY - 96.9 FM) is a Spanish-language radio station that covers a six-county region stretching from Randolph County in the West to Pitt County in the East. In collaboration with La Ley, Spanish-language Radio PSAs have been produced using the same scripts as the TV PSAs. During February and March 2005, they aired 14 radio spots per week for a 3-week period. They will continue to play them throughout the year, as free time becomes available.
