The IUD is put inside the uterus (womb) to prevent pregnancy
It works best if it is put in after the uterus shrinks back to
normal, usually six to eight weeks after delivery
Some IUDs may stay in the uterus as long as you do not want to
have a baby. Others may need to be removed more often. Talk to your healthcare
provider about this.
Your doctor or nurse practitioner will remove the IUD when you
want to get pregnant again
