Female: I'm Becky and this MY Sickel Cell Story. I thought that only African Americans had sickle cell. I didn't even know what it was until I was pregnant and learned that both my husband and I have the trait. We were shocked. Our son was born with sickle cell. It hurts to see him go through so much pain. My advice to ALL future moms AND dads? No matter what your race is, get screened for the sickle cell trait BEFORE you get pregnant. I wish we had.

Voiceover (different voice): Sickle cell is a painful blood disease that can affect anyone of any race. Find out if you carry the trait. You can get a free test at your nearby health department or your sickle cell community program. It's fast and simple.
