NC Office on Disability and Health – Women’s Health
In the area of women’s health, NCODH works to promote access to breast healthcare and cancer screening for women with disabilities by 1) assisting healthcare providers and mammography technologists to provide accessible reproductive health services for women with disabilities thru training and accessibility reviews; 2) educating women with intellectual disabilities about reproductive health and breast cancer screening using the Women Be Healthy curriculum; and 3) improving access to sexual assault and domestic violence services for women with disabilities.

NC Prevention Partners - A leader in reducing preventable illness and early deaths in North Carolina from tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical activity and obesity.
North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation (NCHSF) - The mission of the NCHSF is to reduce infant mortality (death) and morbidity (disability) and to improve the health of women and young children in the state. Coordinates statewide, bilingual public education campaigns, provides professional training and technical assistance and advised state and local policymakers. Women's Health Information Center - WHICH, located in the NC Women’s Hospital in Chapel Hill, organizes community seminars and classes that make getting the latest women's health information easy and fun. UNC Health Care medical experts present information on many women’s health topics.
Breast and Cervical Cancer Control programs (BCCCP) located in many local health departments
CARE-LINE - This is the NC Department of Health and Human Services' toll-free information and referral telephone service. Trained telephone specialists provide information and referrals regarding human services in government and non-profit agencies.
Eat Smart, Move More North Carolina - A statewide initiative in NC that promotes increased opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity wherever people live, learn, earn, play and pray.
Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program - EFNEP - EFNEP helps adult participants learn skills and strategies to feed their family nutritious meals on a limited budget and improve their overall health. The skills also help families learn how to change behaviors that place them at risk for being overweight and the diseases associated with being overweight.
Get Folic - The NC Folic Acid Council promotes the benefits and consumption of folic acid by raising awareness and encouraging behavior change for the public, health care professionals and community agencies through fully integrated educational and media campaigns.
Healthy Hospital Initiative - The Healthy Hospital Initiative (HHI) helps hospitals establish 100% tobacco-free campuses, provide comprehensive cessation support, and build tobacco-free communities.
Project Connect - Project CONNECT is part of the Carolina-Shaw Partnership. The purpose of the project is to encourage more involvement in research and help explain why certain groups of people are more at-risk for diseases and illnesses than others.
Quit Now NC! - A statewide tobacco use cessation partnership that promotes awareness, develops resources, and conducts trainings to help people successfully quit smoking.

Breast Cancer Resource Directory of NC - The Breast Cancer Resource Directory of North Carolina is a joint project between Women Helping Women, the North Carolina Institute of Public Health and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The directory provides free comprehensive information, support and resources.

NC Quitline - A free telephone quitline that provides one-on-one support for those ready to quit smoking.
Preventive Benefits Profile - The Preventive Benefits Profile is a web-based profile of the preventive health insurance benefits offered by NC private and public health plans. Currently, NC Prevention Partners tracks counseling and medication benefits for tobacco use, physical activity, nutrition, obesity, hypertension and cholesterol management, diabetes, and pre-diabetes.
Starting the Conversation Series - The "Starting the Conversation" series is a unique set of brief screening, counseling and referral tools to help healthcare professionals counsel their patients about healthy behavior changes, such as quitting tobacco, and managing blood pressure and cholesterol. All the materials, in English and Spanish, can be used in traditional healthcare settings, worksites, schools, churches, and other community settings.
National Cancer Institute - The National Cancer Institute coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients. National Health Information Center - The Center is a health information referral service. NHIC puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. Centro La Comunidad - Centro La Comunidad works towards the well-being of the Latino community in Alamance County, North Carolina. Services include information and referral, translation and interpretation, assistance with accessing local services, and advocacy. Provides health information through its newsletter.
El Centro Comunitario of the Latino Advocacy Coalition -
LAC promotes participation and leadership in community projects and on local boards, and publishes and distributes nearly 2,000 copies of El Contacto, Henderson County's monthly Spanish-language newsletter.
El Centro Hispano - A grassroots community based organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino community and improving the quality of life of Latino residents in Durham, North Carolina, and the surrounding area.
El Pueblo, Inc. - Statewide advocacy and public policy organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino community. CHAMP - Child Health Assessment and Monitoring Program The CHAMP survey measures the health characteristics and behaviors of children, ages 0 to 17.
Minority Health Report Card (2010) for: Latinos; African Americans and American Indian - Created by the Center for Health Statistics and Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities. The purpose of the report is to present basic health facts about minority groups in NC in the areas of mortality, chronic diseases, HIV and sexually transmitted diseases, health risk factors, access to health care, quality of life, maternal and infant health, and child and adolescent health.

PRAMS - Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System - North Carolina PRAMS, is a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initiative to reduce infant mortality and low birthweight. The PRAMS survey is sent to a sample of women, several months after giving birth, and collects data on maternal attitudes and experiences prior to, during, and immediately after pregnancy.
Preconception Screening and Assessment Tools - This report identifies and links to existing preconception assessment tools that can be used by organizations and individuals in the field.
Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Report Card - This useful tool shows at a glance the leading health indicators for broad racial and ethnic population groups for NC, supporting data for those health indicators, and a letter grade that ranks the health status of those groups.
