ESC Partnership

Welcome to the "ESC Partnership" page of the Health Check (Medicaid)/ NC Health Choice Outreach Web Site! For many years, the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina has played an important role in helping persons who are unemployed receive the resources they need to support themselves and their families, and to find new gainful employment as quickly as possible. Along with loss of employment, families frequently lose their health insurance coverage. This can be especially devastating for families with children and teens.

The goal of this partnership is to assure that families learn about North Carolina's child health insurance programs, Health Check and NC Health Choice, when they apply for unemployment benefits. COBRA decisions to continue health insurance coverage must be made quickly. Family coverage may be prohibitively expensive and knowing about an alternate option for covering kids may reduce a family's expenses and financial stress.
