ITS-SIDS trainers are a critical link to promoting the
infant/toddler safe sleep standards set forth by:
In selecting participants for the ITS-SIDS Online Train-the-Trainer Course, priority is given to infant/toddler specialists and child care health consultants. If a county has a need for additional trainers, applicants must meet eligibility criteria or be approved by the NC Division of Child Development to become an ITS-SIDS trainer.
Qualified ITS-SIDS trainers may continue to conduct ITS-SIDS training for child care providers using the 5th Edition Curriculum only.

What is Required of Trainers
- Complete the ITS-SIDS Train-the-Trainer session
- Inform N.C. Healthy Start Foundation about scheduled
ITS-SIDS training for providers for posting on the Foundation's
Web site
- Recruit child care providers
- Conduct training using the 5th Edition ITS-SIDS Curriculum
- Issue ITS-SIDS Certificates to participating child care
providers
- Send your original class
rosters to the Division of Child Development within 7 days
of the provider training, but keep a copy for your records
