N.C. Healthy Start Foundation launches Spanish website
Mamasana.org messages tailored to the needs of N.C. Latinos
August 6, 2008 - (Raleigh, NC) Starting today, the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation (NCHSF) launches www.mamasana.org, a site solely dedicated to addressing the health needs of North Carolina's growing Latin American communities.
In 2000, the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation launched the Ana María campaign. This program, developed to raise awareness of the resources and health services available to North Carolina's Latinas, has historically provided educational information through printed materials and on NCHSF's main website. Mamasana.org has been developed as a separate portal to provide Latinas with culturally and linguistically appropriate health information in Spanish.
According to Tania Connaughton-Espino, Latino Communications Coordinator with NCHSF, "The mamasana.org website is one more tool provided by the Healthy Start Foundation to make it easier for Latinas to obtain accurate health information in Spanish." The site will provide information to the Spanish-speaking public related to women's and children's health, including information about children's health insurance, and links to other sources of information.
For more information visit www.mamasana.org or www.NCHealthyStart.org.
